Christchurch Food Bank

The Christchurch Food Bank has been created by the Christchurch Fellowship of Churches with support from Faithworks Wessex.

As with other food banks, the Christchurch Food Bank gives three days’ worth of food free to those in need and who have been given a voucher by an appropriate ‘professional’.
Where there is a baby in the household, age-appropriate nappies and baby food is also included and,
if other kinds of support are required, food bank volunteers
can signpost users on.

Christchurch Food Bank is located at St Joseph’s Catholic Church, Purewell BH23 1EH.

Thanks to the generosity of local churches and residents, it opened at the end of July with significant amounts of food – which is already helping those in need in the area.  If you would like to donate food, please click here for the shopping list of standard items, which need to have a ‘use by’ date of at least six months ahead.

The team of volunteers is headed by Joe Egan and we are still looking for people to fulfil the following roles:

•  Donor administrator
Speakers to publicise the Food Bank to churches,
schools and community groups
•  Publicity, especially in dealing with the media
•  Fund-raising, including organising events but also writing grant letters

If you would like to know more, to contribute in some way, to volunteer or to have someone come and talk about Christchurch Food Bank to your church or community group, please email us via the form
